who is broadmind?

Sherry Lachine is the owner of Broadmind, a social enterprise that focuses on community mental health. She started her career as an engineer in the Canadian military then moved on as a systems engineer in the private sector.  Engineering wasn’t for her as she came to realize. She decided on a new goal; supported by her husband and tolerated (but loved) by her children, she went back to school to learn what was missing and interesting to her, psychology. She recognized that it was the aspects of helping people and working with them that she gravitated towards at every step of her professional and personal life. She recognized her need for tools to understand and enjoy her life better. With quizzical, albeit mainly supportive looks from family and friends she forged on to learn, volunteer and humble herself. Now, with new knowledge and experience including a Masters in Science in Applied Psychology, hours of volunteer involvement, effort in the not-for-profit sector and a deep love of helping individuals and groups, she works to address strategies to improve mental health.

Broadmind brings like-minded mental health professionals together to collaborate and assist organizations in achieving mental health goals. Helping others understand more about mental health we can foster respect, tolerance and empathy that will become important peer, social, workplace and community builders.
