Let’s Talk About Mental Health in the Workplace
Did you know that the Mental Health Commission of Canada has already created a standard of guidelines, tools and resources to assist organizations in promoting mental health? Now more than ever people are having conversations about how to better our mental health in all aspects of life - especially in the workplace. Here at Broadmind we provide more resources to implement The Standard.

What is “The National Standard of Canada for Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace
(the Standard)?
The the first of its kind in the world, the Standard is a set of voluntary guidelines, tools and resources intended to guide organizations in promoting mental health and preventing psychological harm at work. Launched in January 2013, it has garnered uptake from coast to coast to coast, internationally and across organizations of all sectors and sizes. ” - (MHCC)
Why is adopting the Standard so important?
Adopting the Standard can help organizations with:
Helping Employers become more productive and more effective
Identifying and planning for effective risk management
Improving employer reputation and recruiting success
Improving employee satisfaction and retention

The Standard includes information on:
Identifying psychological hazards in the workplace
Assessing and minimizing risks in the workplace associated with hazards that cannot be eliminated (e.g. stressors due to organizational change or reasonable job demands)
Implementation of practices that support and promote psychological health and safety in the workplace
Growing a workplace culture that promotes psychological health and safety
Implementing processes and checks and balances that will ensure the sustainability of your overall approach
